First session
In your first session, you’ll discuss what brought you to therapy, what has been happening recently and any relevant history.
Before the session ends, you will discuss:
- what you would like help with
- whether this kind of support is right for you
- what you might focus on if you continue
- whether an assessment or a different service would suit you better
You don’t need to prepare anything. After the session, you can decide whether you want to book another.
Follow-up session
You can book a follow-up after your first session. Each session is booked separately, and you decide with your psychologist what to focus on next.
- Appointments Monday to Saturday, including evenings
Cancel at least 24 hours before your session for a full refund. If you cancel with less than 24 hours’ notice or miss your session without letting us know, you may be charged the full session fee.
Mental Health Testing & Certification
Psychological assessment and documentation for education, work and other needs. A certificate or recommendation is issued only when the assessment supports it. Four types of assessment are currently available:
Mental health certificate for a PRC board examination
Certification of mental health status where a PRC board examination or a related application requires it.
Usually one session.
What’s involved →Mental health certification for a medicine programme
Certification of mental health status for admission to, or continuing in, a medical programme, where the institution requires it.
Usually one session.
What’s involved →Fit-to-work or return-to-work documentation
Documentation of readiness to return to work after mental health concerns, leave or treatment.
May need more than one session.
What’s involved →Emotional support animal (ESA) certificate
An assessment of whether an emotional support animal may be clinically appropriate for your mental health. A certificate is issued only when it is.
Usually one session.
What’s involved →The fee covers the mental health assessment, the consultation and issuing the certificate. If further sessions are clinically recommended or requested after the assessment, they are booked and charged separately at the usual session fee.
Results are usually available within one to two weeks, depending on the assessment and number of tests involved. Keep this lead time in mind if you need the certificate by a specific date.
Some purposes call for tests that aren’t available through New Ground, or for an assessment done in person. Contact us with what the certificate is for. We will tell you which assessment applies, then arrange the sessions.
Service hours
Online sessions, Manila time:
- Monday to Friday, 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm
- Saturday, 10:00 am to 8:00 pm
Sessions are by appointment only. The times open for booking are shown when you book and depend on the psychologist’s availability. Service hours may change, with notice.
How you pay
One QR code, scanned with GCash, Maya or your banking app. You pay when you book. No card is stored. New Ground isn’t accredited with HMOs or insurers, so sessions can’t be claimed through them.
